Cultivators eye bumper chilli yield

JAMALPUR, Dec 05 (BSS): Farmers are expecting bumper production of chilli in the district this current Robi season.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said 12,300 tonnes dried chilli is expected to be produced from 7,500 hectares of land this year.
The office said farmers cultivated on 750 hectares of land with a production target of 1,230 tonnes in Jamalpur sadar upazila.
Besides, chilli was cultivated on 915 hectares with a production target of 1,500 tonnes in Sarishabari, 1,100 hectares with a production target of 1,804 tonnes in Melandaha, 3,100 hectares with a production target of 5,084 tonnes in Islampur, 280 hectares with a production target of 459 tonnes in Dewanganj, 1,200 hectares with a production target of 1,968 tonnes in Madarganj and 155 hectares with a production target of 254 tonnes in Bakshiganj.
Target per hectare yield of dried chilli is 1.64 tonnes.
Deputy Director of DAE Md Aminul Islam said farmers are also expecting bumper production of green chilli this year.
