NAOGAON, May 06: Speakers at an event in the district said turkey birds are becoming the alternative source of protein in our society.

Commercial farming of the bird will help alleviate poverty from the society.

Turkey mostly depends on natural grasses for food. So anyone who rears the bird does not need to pay much money to get their food.

And turkeys are hardy birds with low susceptibility to disease, the speakers said.

The speakers were addressing a day-long workshop on ‘Commercial Turkey Rearing’ at the District Livestock Office recently.
