FE Report
An alleged mugger, beaten up heavily by students of the Dhaka University last evening, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Sunday morning, police said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahbagh police station Rezaul Karim told the FE that Parimal Mondal, 35, the alleged mugger, died at the hospital at about 10:00am. He was a resident of Indira Road at Tejgaon in the city.
Quoting an allegation filed against the deceased, the OC said that a gang of three persons, including Parimal, mugged Rajan, a second-year student of Management Department of the country's highest seat of learning, inside the Suhrawardy Udyan Saturday evening.
At one stage of the mugging, friends of Rajan caught Parimal after a hot chase and handed him over to the police after giving him a heavy thrashing, leaving him seriously injured, he said.
