City witnesses scorching heat

The city dwellers witnessed scorching heat of the sun on Monday as mercury rose notably amid almost no rain.

Lack of wind and higher humidity added further woes to the city dwellers, especially the working people.

Maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 34.3 degrees Celsius, highest in last six days, said the Met Office.

The city witnessed almost no rain between Monday 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, according to the Met Office.

Presence of humidity was 85 per cent in the morning which declined to 58 per cent in the evening.

Wind speed also declined on the day to 8.0- 9.0 kph until 6:00 pm.

The country's highest temperature was 35 degrees Celsius at Sayedpur in Nilphamari and the lowest 23.5 degrees in Dighinala.

Highest rainfall was recorded at 78 millimetres in Satkhira.

The Met Office forecasted light to moderate rain might occur in most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions

in next twenty four hours starting from Monday evening.

Rain might occur only at few places over other five divisions of the country, said the Met Office.

The sun sets at 6:23 pm today (Tuesday) and will rise at 5:38 am tomorrow (Wednesday).
