CUJ leaders call on govt to ensure freedom of press

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 30: The leaders of Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) have called upon the government to ensure freedom of press and declare the 9th wage board award and implement the announced dearness allowance for the journalists.

They made the call while speaking at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the union at Bangabandhu Hall in the port city on Tuesday.

CUJ president Nazimuddin Shyamol presided over the meeting that approved the reports of the committee and took some important decisions.

Hasan Ferdous, General Secretary of CUJ, presented the organisational report while Kashem Shah presented the financial report.

Among others, senior journalists M Nasirul Haque, Mostak Ahamed, M Shamsul Islam, Roksarul Islam, Azad Talukdar, Mithun Kumar and leaders of CUJ addressed the meeting.
