Nat'l Consumer Rights Day tomorrow

National Consumer Rights Day will be observed in the country tomorrow (Thursday) with the theme "Smart Trusted Products".

Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has chalked out elaborate programmes including rally to mark the day.

World Consumer Rights Day is observed on March 15 every year.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi disclosed this at a press conference held at his secretariat office on Tuesday.

Commerce Secretary Md Mofizul Islam, Director General (DG) of DNCRP MD Shafiqul Islam Laskar and senior officials concerned were present.

Tipu Munshi said the government has taken austerity measures to protect the country's consumers' rights.

Replying to a question about a hike in sugar price, he said the production cost of sugar has increased and its prices have gone up by Tk ½ per kilogram.
