Protest against harassment of Nur

Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Students' Right Council staged a demonstration in front of the National Press Club in the city on Tuesday, protesting harassment of former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur by filing 'false rape case' — Focus Bangla

Activists of Bangladesh Students' Right Council (BSRC) protested in the capital and many divisional cities on Tuesday against the harassment and torture on former vice president (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haque Nur, with the issue of filing a rape case.

Another case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act was also filed in Kotwali Police Station on Monday night.

In Dhaka city, the protesters brought out a procession from Doyel Chattar around 11 am and reached National Museum at Shabagh after passing by Jatiya Press Club. About 150 protesters were in front of the National Museum.

They were shouting slogans against detention of its six members, among whom five were made accused in the case.

Rashed Khan, joint convener of the platform, Faruk Khan, another joint convener, Ataullah and other leaders and activists were present there.

On Sunday night, a DU student filed a rape case with Lalbagh Police Station accusing Nur and five members of BSRC-also known as former quota reformist platform.

On Monday, Nur and his supporters protested against the rape case claiming it was a 'harassment case'.

Immediately afterwards, Nur and six members of the platform were detained for protesting the filing of the case. They were later released.

The other five accused are: Hasan Al Mamun, convener of BSRC; Nazmul Hasan Sohag and Saiful Islam, joint conveners of the platform; Nazmul Huda, vice-president of the platform; and Abdullah Hil Baki, a DU student.
