Banglalink opens flagship customer centre in Gulshan

Banglalink has launched a new flagship customer centre at Gulshan, in the capital. It was inaugurated by Pierre Boutros Obeid, Chief Technology Officer and Acting Chief Commercial Officer of Banglalink while Taimur Rahman, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer and Shahriar Ahmed Remon, Head of Monobrand and Device of Banglalink were present. The visitors will get essential telecom facilities including video wall, digital smart phone display, hello wall, BL bar payment service, Transparent LED, internet experience zone, new connectivity, airtime recharge, SIM replacement and original handset purchase with EMI at the flagship customer service center. Pierre Boutros Obeid, Chief Technology Officer and Acting Chief Commercial Officer of Banglalink said "Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the new flagship customer care service center will benefit the visitors by enabling them to get various telecom facilities and experience our service-quality." — UNB

Japan to help GCC generate power from waste

Japan will help Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) to produce electricity from wastage, said mayor Md Jahangir Alam. Talking to reporters at Nagar Bhaban, the mayor said Japan will provide Tk 12 billion loan for the project. An agreement has been signed between Japanese city Hamamatsu Mayor Yasutomo Suzuki and GCC Mayor Jahangir Alam in this regard. "Keeping the city clean is a big challenge. The city corporation took the initiative to minimise the hazards and produce energy from waste materials," Alam said on Tuesday. It will be possible to produce electricity from this project within next one year, he added. — UNB

China's benchmark power coal price edges up

Shijiazhuang, Aug 28 - China's benchmark power coal price rose slightly during the past week as decreasing inventories at ports and power plants brought a temporary bonus for coal prices. The Bohai-Rim Steam-Coal Price Index (BSPI), a gauge of coal prices in north China's major ports, reached 577 yuan (about 81.6 U.S. dollars) per tonne Wednesday, a rise of one yuan week on week, according to Qinhuangdao Ocean Shipping Coal Trading Market Co. — Xinhua
