Installation of 13th span on Padma Bridge today

MUNSHIGANJ, May 24: Nearly two kilometres of the 6.15-kilometre Padma Bridge will become visible with the installation of the 13th span tomorrow. "Preparation is underway to install the 150- metre long span on 14 and 15 number pillars of the bridge ," an engineer of Padma Multipurpose Bridge said Friday. A total of 41 spans will be installed on 42 concrete pillars to complete the bridge, he added. According to the project details, the construction of the 6.15-kilometre long Padma Bridge is going on in full swing with target to complete it as soon as possible. — BSS

Muggers kill two in Nawabganj

KERANIGANJ, May 24 (UNB): Two people were hacked to death by some muggers at Majhikanda in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka early Friday. The deceased were identified as Zahid, 40, and his friend Kamal, 50, of the area. Police said a group of muggers intercepted a motorbike carrying Zahid and Kamal after placing a banana tree on the road around 11:30 pm on Thursday. Later, the muggers snatched their valuables and stabbed them with sharp weapons, leaving them critically injured.

New train runs on Dhaka-Panchagarh from today

PANCHAGARH, May 24 (UNB): A new train on Dhaka-Panchagarh route will begin its maiden journey on Saturday after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurates it through a videoconference. The train will complete its 593-kilometer journey in 10 hours. It will leave Panchagarh at 12:15pm and reach Dhaka at 10:35pm. From there, it will leave at 12:10am and reach Panchagarh at 10:45am. — UNB
