Speakers at a conference said on Sunday accounting professionals can lead the way to establish effective integrated financial reporting to ensure corporate good governance and sustainability.

Accounting professionals are well positioned to enhance the confidence and credibility of stakeholders to promote and support the progressive application of global best practice in integrated reporting, they told the conference.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) organised the conference on "Integrated Reporting: Challenges and Opportunities" at its auditorium against a backdrop of 'global shift towards IAS/IFRS and ISA frontiers'.

Anwaruddin Chowdhury, council member and former president of ICAB, presented a keynote paper at the conference.

ICAB president Adeeb Hossain Khan delivered address of welcome and past president Abbas Uddin Khan conducted the session as session chairman.  Vice president Md Mahamud Hosain FCA gave vote of thanks.

Mr Adeeb said everybody should engage himself/herself in ensuring transparent, efficient and accountable financial statement for the economic growth of the country.

Integrated reporting through proper application of accounting and financial standards will ensure a comparable and fair presentation of financial information and help decision-makers formulate economic policies, he added.

Mr Anwaruddin in his keynote paper said ICAB is well-prepared to create consistent awareness, promote and support progressive application of global best practices in integrated reporting.    [email protected]
