Security tightened in Ctg ahead of Shab-e-Barat

CHATTOGRAM, Apr.20: The law enforcing agencies particularly Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) have taken special security measures in the port city ahead of the Shab-e-Barat.

Additional Commissioner of CMP Amena Begum said, "Police have taken special security measures for maintaining law and order during Lailatul Borat in the port city like every year. We will ensure security for the Muslim devotees for peaceful observance of the holy night."

"Police are ready to resist any unwanted situation and any anarchy in the city. As per directives of the higher authorities, CMP and other agenices have taken special security measures in this regard," she added.

"CMP has deployed additional numbers of policemen in the risky places, including mosques and majars, in the port city. We have already intensified patrol in the city area. We are conducting raid at the suspected spots where anarchists may hide," she said.

CMP sources said police personnel will remain deployed at the important spots, including majars and mosques.

Meanwhile, CMP and district police have set up check posts at the strategic points.

Policemen are conducting security check in taxies, private cars and microbuses in the said places.
