Traffic rules violators fined Tk 2.32m in city

Traffic Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 4,729 cases and realised fines of Tk 2.32 million (23.23 lakh) in separate drives against traffic rules violators in the capital on Friday, reports UNB.

Besides, 28 vehicles were dumped and 703 other vehicles were put on the wrecker during the day-long drive, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP Masudur Rahman.

Among the cases, 1007 were filed for plying vehicles on wrong side of roads, 106 for using hydraulic horns, one for not having beacon light, two for using various stickers and five for using dark-tinted glass.

Besides, cases were filed against 1,276 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 63 other motorcycles were seized, he said.

The Traffic Department of the DMP is conducting special drives as part of its routine work, he said.
