A case was filed against Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman on Monday for reportedly making derogatory remarks about Hindu religion, report agencies.

Goutam Kumar, a resident of the city's Bhashantek area, filed the case with the Cyber Crime Tribunal.

Tribunal Judge Al Shams Jaglul Hossain asked the officer-in-charge of Bhashantek thana to investigate the complaint and submit a report on September 25, said plaintiff's lawyer Sumon Kumar Roy.

According to the case statement, Barrister Suman made disparaging comments on Hindu religion on his Facebook page on July 19, hurting the religious sentiment of the Hindu community.

Besides, he made 'offensive comments' about Hindu religion on April 19.

Goutam appealed to the court to issue a warrant for Suman's arrest.
