BCB XI, WI two-day practice match ends in a draw

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 19 (UNB): The two-day practice match between Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI and touring West Indies Test side ended in a draw at MA Aziz Stadium here on Monday.

Replying to visitors' 303/7-d, BCB XI amassed 232 for five in 75 overs on the second day. West Indies declared their innings in the morning without adding to their overnight total.

In the BCB XI innings, one-day match specialist Soumya Sarkar scored 78 off 103 balls, including 10 boundaries and three sixes, before being caught by Sunil Ambris off Jomel Warrican to slice off from an opening stand.

Soumya, who played in the longest format of the game last in October 2017 and got call for the first Test, shared 126 off 34.2 overs with opener Shadman Islam.

After the dismissal of Soumya, Shadman continued in the next stand with Nazmul Hossain Shanto for another partnership of 47 off 16.4 overs, but Shanto [21 off 48b; 2x4] was bowled out by Kemar Roach at 173/2 in 51 overs.

Mohammad Mithun, who got a spot in the squad for the first Test against West Indies, played for not out 27* off 70 balls, including three boundaries. Wicketkeeper-batsman Zakir Hasan [18 off 34b; 3x4] was another double-digit scorer for BCB XI.

Shannon Gabriel [2/24], Kemar Roach [1/18] and Jomel Warrican [1/51] shared five wickets for the visitors.
