BMCCI to hold 'Showcase Bangladesh' event in KL July 11

Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) is going to organise the '4th Showcase Bangladesh - Go Global' in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia to boost bilateral trade and investment relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia.

The event is scheduled to be held at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on July 11 next to focus on opportunities and challenges of major stakeholders - both in private and public sectors, according to the organisers.

This event has been organised in collaboration with Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and supported by Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA).

With the theme 'Go Global', the event is expected to explore key trade and investment opportunities that exist for Bangladesh in particular from Malaysian counterparts, they explained at a press conference held at the press club in Dhaka on Monday.

Trade experts, policymakers and government officials, business leaders and representatives of corporate entities are expected to participate in this event.

"We're trying to convince the Malaysian government to take one economic zone which will increase our employment opportunities and boost our economy to further extent," Syed Moazzam Hossain, president of the BMCCI said while addressing the press conference.

The BMCCI is also inviting Malaysian sunset industries to relocate to Bangladesh, he added.

Currently, Bangladesh exports goods worth US$ 252 million to Malaysia. The BMCCI is looking forward to increase such export earnings by 20 per cent per year, according to the president.

Among others Amir Farid Abu Hasan, acting high commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, Alamgir Jalil, immediate past president of the BMCCI and chairman of the organising committee of the event, Shabbir Ahmed Khan, secretary general of the BMCCI, Shamim Ahmed Chowdhury Noman, secretary general of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) and Moniruzzaman Khan, senior executive vice president of the Green Delta Insurance Co. Ltd spoke on the occasion.
