Illegal brick kiln fined Tk 0.2m in Bandarban raid

BANDARBAN, Mar 02 (BSS): The district administration, in collaboration with the Department of Environment (DoE), fined an illegal brick kiln Tk 0.2 million (2 lakh) during a raid in the Kagjikhola area under Baishari union of Naikhongchari upazila in the district on Monday morning.

The mobile court was jointly conducted by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md Abu Abdullah of the Bandarban District Administration. Assistant Director (AD) of the Department of Environment, Bandarban, Md Rezaul Karim represented the prosecution during the drive.

According to mobile court sources, the kiln-operating under the name 'NSB Bricks'-was found to be running without environmental clearance and valid documentation.

The establishment was fined Tk 0.2 million (2 lakh) for violating the law, and the fine was realised on the spot.
