ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Kushtia, Mar 24: Islamic University's website is like its mirror in today's world. It contains important information such as department syllabuses, research, tuition fees, faculty members, students, staff and other details.

However, the Islamic University (IU) website lacks updated information and a modern touch.

While visiting IU's website (www.iu.ac.bd), one can see that at least 12 departments have no descriptions. Usually, students look for information about their preferred departments on the university website, but the IU website does not provide updated details.

Moreover, there is no information about teachers' educational qualifications, formal photos, CVs or published research papers.

Additionally, there is no separate profile for students that include their results and other important records.

University rankings play a significant role in attracting both local and international students, but the IU website does not display any ranking information.

Furthermore, there is no updated information about residential halls, provosts, housing facilities, student organisations or transport services.

Details about alumni, various journals, e-books, and scholarships for undergraduate, master's, MPhil, and PhD programmes for local and foreign students are also missing.

In many cases, the contact numbers provided for teachers and staff members are not active.

Even in this modern age, all notices on the website are uploaded as images, which reduce the website's quality. As a result, students often criticise the university website on social media.

ASM Mahbub, a student of the Da'wah & Islamic Studies Department, said, "When we try to contact the numbers given on the

website for important needs, we often find that they are not active."

As a result, it becomes impossible to reach them. Even important notices are uploaded using

a cam scanner, which is a great embarrassment for the administration in this era of technology.

Moreover, when senior students go abroad for higher studies, there is no update about them. Yet, they could have been a valuable source of inspiration and guidance, he added.

Prof Dr Md Shahjahan Ali, director of the university's ICT cell, said, "We are facing difficulties due to the unfinished tasks left by previous administrators.

The ICT cell provides innovative technology services to support the university's teaching,

learning, research and administrative goals.

"Currently, we are working on ID cards and other matters. Very soon, we will organise all university-related information."
