Added to corona concern

July 04, 2020 00:00:00

A month after cyclone Amphan devastated the southern region, floods have started affecting life and livelihoods in the north. Both these natural calamities came when all attention is given to facing the coronavirus crisis. Cyclone and floods could have been dealt in a different manner, had there been no pandemic now. So, naturally, it's an additional burden on society and the authorities concerned.

Still, nothing can be neglected since all involve public suffering. Maybe, measures to help people affected by Amphan and current flooding would address corona challenges simultaneously. A task force may be assigned to take stock of the situation and recommend measures to the policymakers. We should be ready now to capture the opportunities that may be available in the post-pandemic period.
