Danger of counterfeit currency

March 25, 2025 00:00:00

During Eid, the volume of transactions and shopping increases significantly. Taking advantage of this opportunity, a dishonest group tries to circulate counterfeit notes in the market thereby deceiving the general public and causing financial losses.

Recently, Bangladesh Bank has announced that no new notes will be released in the market for Eid this year. However, exploiting this situation, the counterfeit note syndicate has become active and is supplying counterfeit notes in the market. Under the circumstances, it is essential to avoid suspicious transactions, obtain notes from banks or reliable sources, and exercise maximum caution when conducting large transactions. If any suspicious note is found, it should be reported immediately to the law enforcement authorities.

The general public must remain vigilant to avoid falling into the trap of counterfeit notes. A collective effort to combat counterfeit note syndicates can ensure our financial security.
