Empower women's voice

March 23, 2025 00:00:00

Our days are passing like a nightmare. Peaceful sleep has become a luxury for parents who have daughters. Where can a girl feel safe in Bangladesh? Does any safe zone exist for them?

For too long, rape has been blamed on women's clothing and behaviour. Those with a regressive mindset have perpetuated the notion that only women are responsible for the crimes committed against them. But what about the little girls who are being raped? They are not even old enough to wear a veil. What justification do the victim-blamers have for these atrocities? Do they have the courage to face the public and defend their baseless claims?

An exemplary punishment for rapists is the need of the hour. Hundreds of perpetrators roam free, devoid of guilt or remorse. This lawlessness persists due to a lack of strict enforcement. It is time to raise our voices. We will not accept the defamation of another sister. Silence is no longer an option-society must stand united against sexual violence.

Rape is not just a passing issue; it is a deep-rooted crisis. Either the government takes swift and decisive action, or we will turn "March 2025" into "July 2024." The victims must not suffer further complications due to social stigma and legal delays. It is our collective duty to support them, helping them reclaim their lives with dignity and peace.

Parents should not be left to believe that giving birth to a daughter is a cruel twist of fate. We must restore their faith in justice and security. If we fail, both our generation and the next will pay the price. It is time to stand firm, united, and resolute. The fight against rape is not just a movement-it is a war for justice. We are armed with our voices, our unity, and our unwavering determination to protect the women of this nation.
