Hazardous Paltan intersection

For thousands of passengers every single day, Paltan Intersection-one of Dhaka's busiest areas-is a major transit crossroads. But the growing threat of careless driving has made this busy intersection dangerous which is pretty challenging for people.
Traffic laws are regularly broken by drivers of buses, private vehicles, and motorbikes who speed through the region and disobey traffic lights. People frequently disregard the zebra crossings, which are intended to provide safe passage for passengers on foot, leaving them unprotected and stuck in the middle of the road.
The safety of passers-by, particularly women, children, and the elderly, is seriously threatened by this careless behaviour. While children find it challenging to go to their schools and universities safely, commuters and office workers frequently experience delays and anxiety. In this region, accidents have become frighteningly regular, which lead to anything from minor injuries to fatal accidents.
In order to tackle this worsening situation, swift and effective actions are required. Traffic laws must be properly implemented, and traffic law violators must face consequences. Increased traffic police presence and CCTV camera installation can discourage careless driving. It is important to provide designated pedestrian routes and functional zebra crossings to make sure that cars stop when necessary. Campaigns for public awareness can also be quite effective in teaching both motorists and pedestrians about road safety.
Authorities must act swiftly to address the difficult situation of commuters at Paltan Intersection. For every citizen, using the roads in a safe and orderly manner is not only essential, but also a fundamental right. It is necessary that we put security for passengers first and bring order back to our roadways.
