Sarjis Alam, chief organiser (North) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), said on Monday that the military should refrain from intervening in domestic politics, report agencies and online portals.

He also emphasised that the armed forces should remain focused on their national duties and responsibilities.

Alam made these comments while speaking to journalists at Syedpur Airport in Nilphamari on Monday morning.

Addressing recent speculations, he clarified that there were no internal disagreements within the NCP regarding the recent meeting he and Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser (South) of the NCP, had with Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman.

He also urged the public to reject narratives that aim to revive the Awami League under any name, including the so-called "Refined Awami League."

Alam described such rumours as a societal issue and called on the government to establish an anti-rumour cell to address the spread of misinformation. Additionally, he advised citizens to remain vigilant against false propaganda.

As part of the NCP's ongoing political activities, Sarjis Alam was scheduled to address multiple roadside gatherings across five upazilas in Panchagarh.

Addressing the idea of a "Refined Awami League," Alam clarified that it was merely an opinion, not a proposal. He also expressed some disagreements with the statements made by Hasnat Abdullah regarding their March 11 meeting with General Waker-uz-Zaman.

Meanwhile, speaking at a rally at Bijoy Ekattor Chattor in Debiganj, Panchagarh district, Sarjis Alam urged voters to choose candidates who will fulfill their promises in the upcoming elections. "Don't vote based on party names or symbols. Vote for those who keep their words and work accordingly. The country will progress if the people work selflessly," he said.

Sarjis added that his party is committed to building resistance against repression, oppression, extortion, and corruption within Bangladesh's political system. He criticised political leaders for exploiting the general public for their own benefit.

He urged the public not to accept money from candidates, stating, "Those who offer money will not work for you. Avoid taking it."

Earlier in the morning, Sarjis Alam flew to Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari and then traveled to Debiganj in a motorcade of over a hundred vehicles.
