BRTA asks all to conduct mobile court every day

The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has directed all concerned to conduct mobile court every day in a bid to check the plying of illegal transport and their overspeeding and overloading.

The directive will remain in force until further notice, the BRTA has said in a notice.

The directive came following Wednesday's fatal road accident in Jhalakathi that killed 14 lives.

The BRTA has observed that the number of illegal transport, including nosimon-korimon and three-wheelers, has increased on highways and roads across the country, leading to road accidents.

"Overspeeding and overloading are mainly responsible for fatal accidents," it says.

The BRTA has asked its assistant director (engineer) to take necessary measures in coordination with the deputy commissioner and the police department every day.
