The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on Sunday urged the government to take steps for strengthening the country's financial sector to help support economic recovery and boost private investment.
The chamber president, Taskeen Ahmed, has made the appeal while meeting with Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury at the latter's Secretariat office in Dhaka.
During the meeting, the DCCI president stressed the need for a gradual reduction in the policy rate to help ease lending rates and stimulate private-sector investment.
He also suggested reconsidering the loan-rescheduling facility for genuine or unintentional defaulters by extending the loan classification period.
