Govt cancels DMTCL MD appointment

The government has cancelled the appointment of Faruque Ahmed as the managing director (MD) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL).

A circular, issued on Monday by the Road Transport and Highways Division under the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges upon the president's order, cancelled Ahmed's appointment with immediate effect.

Ahmed was appointed as the managing director of DMTCL on February 9, 2026, for three years.

He was appointed to the post as the first Bangladeshi expatriate engineer for his work experience in metro rail in different countries.
