A mild earthquake, measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale, struck Bangladesh early on Thursday.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the tremor, which occurred at 6:14 AM.
The epicentre was located in Shibpur Upazila of Narsingdi district at a depth of 30 km, about 33 km east-northeast of Tongi and three km north of Narsingdi. The shallow depth means the tremor was likely felt lightly in surrounding districts.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department Assistant Meteorologist Farzana Sultana said the earthquake was a mild tremor. Previously, a stronger earthquake, measuring 5.7 in magnitude, had shaken Dhaka and several regions on November 21, also originating from Narsingdi.
Since then, several minor tremors have been recorded across the country, most with epicentres in Narsingdi.
Earlier on Tuesday, an earthquake was felt in Cox's Bazar and Chattogram at 12:57 AM. Residents of Cox's Bazar city, Ukhiya, and Chakaria reported feeling the tremor.
Before that, on November 21 and 22, four earthquakes occurred over two days.
Among them, the quake on November 21 measured 5.7 on the Richter scale and resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people.
