A dance drama on Nazrul staged in Mymensingh

Mymensingh, Dec 6: "Kabi Priya", a dance drama based on life and work of Nazrul stimulated the jam-packed an auditorium of the town last Thursday evening. Bahurupi Natya Sangstha staged the play at a week long cultural festival and it was the 28th performance of the drama by the prominent cultural group.

The play began with Nazrul's song "Anjali Laho Mor Sangeete" to place due respect to the bard.

Intimate love for both youth and speechless life of the rebel poet was depicted in the play, said sources.

Written by Sheikh Akram Ali, the play was directed by Shahadat Hossain Khan Hilu, secretary of Bahurupi Natya Sangstha.

The cast of the drama were-Niharendu Chanda, Mona Barmon, Arabinda Sarker Jibon, Ferdous Hira, Moni Bhattacharya, Neaz  Shahrier Babu, Wahab Mahmud Ramzan, Delwar Hossain Badal, Monir Hossain Tushar and Runa Begum.

The play was assisted by Mizan, Priyanka, Orki, Amrita, Anika and Jenam performed in the dance sequences of the play.

Manash Talukder directed the dance sequences. Earlier, a discussion was held.

Mayor of Mymensingh Municipality Ekramul Haque Titu, District Cultural Officer Arzu Parves, Professor Amir Ahmed Chowdhury Ratan, secretary of Bidrohi Natya Goshthi Ali  Azhar, Dr HA Golandaj  Tara spoke on the occasion among others.

The play based on the life of a great poet is admirable and through the play, audience can easily learn about the bard and his struggle against the oppression, repression and deprivation of the common people, said the speakers.
