FE REPORT

At least four more people died from dengue in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, while 319 new patients were hospitalised across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest deaths reported from Dhaka South City and Chattogram Division, the total number of fatalities from the disease this year has risen to 69. The new hospitalisations brought the overall dengue case count in 2024 to 18,345, with 1,316 patients currently undergoing treatment in hospitals.

In contrast, the COVID-19 situation remains under control, with only two new infections recorded during the same 24-hour reporting period. The DGHS stated that 123 samples were tested, yielding a positivity rate of 1.63 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has donated a new batch of COVID-19 testing kits to Bangladesh in response to a request from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The donation aims to ease pressure on the country's healthcare facilities involved in testing and treatment.
