Police have arrested an alleged associate of the rider of the motorcycle used in the drive-by of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, seizing a foreign firearm and ammunition, reports bdnews24.com.
Himon Rahman Shikdar, 32, was arrested on Wednesday morning at a motel.
Acting on his information, officers later recovered a foreign pistol and three rounds of bullets during a raid at Dhaka's Adabor, said Jewel Rana, additional commissioner of police for Tejgaon Division (Mohammadpur).
He was brought to Adabor Police Station in the afternoon.
Police said Himon had been hiding at the motel and controlling criminal activities from there. He is an alleged activist of the Awami League's youth wing in Adabor. Checks are under way to determine whether he has previous cases.
Investigators said Alamgir Sheikh rode the motorcycle used in the shooting, with Faisal Karim Masud firing from the pillion.
Hadi was shot on Dec 12 and died seven days later in Singapore while under treatment. Neither Alamgir nor Faisal has been arrested.
