A mild heat wave sweeping across several districts is likely to persist, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Wednesday.

In a bulletin, the weather office said that the heat wave is currently affecting Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Jashore, Chuadanga and Kushtia districts. The heat wave was accompanied by high humidity alongside dry weather.

Rajshahi recorded the highest temperature at 37.6 degrees Celsius on the day, while temperatures in the capital city of Dhaka hovered around 30 degrees Celsius, reflecting the ongoing mild heat wave.

The weather office said nighttime temperatures could rise slightly across the country. The BMD added that a trough of low pressure over the northwest Bay and adjoining areas is contributing to the current weather conditions.
