New VC takes charge of BSMMU

Professor Dr Deen Md Nurul Haque, the newly-appointed vice-chancellor (VC) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), took charge of his office on Thursday, vowing not to indulge in any sorts of corruption.

He also emphasised strengthening of medical education, quality healthcare and research as these are crucial for the advancement of the medical profession.

He made the statement while addressing a press conference at BSMMU Shahid Dr Milton Hall after taking charge as the 12th VC of BSMMU.

He promised not to do any corruption by calling for everyone's cooperation with responsibility.

"I won't entertain any unjust demands [...]. I won't indulge in any corruption. No corruption will be tolerated," he added.

Meanwhile, a colourful programme was organised on the BSMMU campus to welcome the new vice-chancellor.

Prof Haque replaced Prof Dr Sharfuddin Ahmed as the VC of the country's largest medical educational institution.
