REHAB to train 10,000 construction workers -

The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) will provide training to 10,000 more construction workers to meet the demand for skilled workers at home and abroad.
To this end, the trade-body signed agreements with eight organizations at a ceremony at its office in the city on Wednesday.
REHAB President Md. Wahiduzzaman and Senior Vice President Liakat Ali Bhuiyan and the top brass of the eight training institutions signed the agreements on behalf of their respective sides, a statement said.
REHAB Vice President (Finance) Abdur Razzaque, Director and SICIP-REHAB Project Standing Committee Member Monjorul Forhad Philip and directors Sheikh Md Shoyeb Uddin and A F M Ubaidullah were present, among others, at the signing ceremony.
The skill development training will be free of charge. Each trainee will be granted a scholarship of Tk 13,500 at the end of the four-month course. The trainees will learn four trades, including plumbing and pipe fitting, masonry and steel binding, tiles and marble works and electrical installation and maintenance. After successful completion, they will have the opportunity to be hired by companies at home and abroad.
REHAB is running training programmes under the Ministry of Finance's Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (SICIP), the statement says.
REHAB completed training programmes for 21,000 construction workers in three phases, of whom 90 per cent have been hired by various companies.
