Eight activists of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) have been accused of assaulting three youths and robbing them after allegedly stopping their motorcycle on the Dhaka University (DU) campus.

A written complaint was filed with Shahbagh Police Station on Friday (July 17), naming eight individuals and around 20 unidentified persons.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police Station, Md Moniruzzaman, confirmed that the police had received the complaint. He said legal action would be taken against the accused after coordinating with the university authorities.

According to the complaint, the incidents took place between 10:30 pm and 1:00 am on Thursday night (July 16) at VC Chattar, Mall Chattar and the Shahbagh area. The complainant also alleged that the same group had robbed the victims of Tk 5,000 in a separate incident on May 14. However, the accused denied most of the allegations.

The victims are Abdur Rahim Sajid, Fardin Khan and Morshed Ahmed, all former students of University Laboratory School and College.

Rejecting the allegations, accused Al Shams said, "The complaint is motivated. We had a minor dispute with them earlier, which was resolved. There was no incident of forcibly taking them away or robbing them on Thursday night."

DU Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon said they were aware of the allegations and that appropriate action would be taken after verifying the facts.
