The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) has held a protest rally demanding justice for victims of recent incidents of rape and violence in Narsingdi and other parts of the country.

Student leaders warned that a mass resistance movement would be mobilised if justice is not ensured.

The procession began at 1:45?pm on Friday from the Central Mosque of Dhaka University, marched across the campus, and concluded at the Raju Memorial Sculpture.

During the rally, DUCSU leaders chanted slogans including 'Ensure women's safety or step down,' 'End rape now,' 'There is no place for rapists in my Golden Bengal,' and 'From Asiya to Nandini, we have not seen justice.'

Addressing the gathering at the Raju Memorial Sculpture, DUCSU Vice President Shadik Kayem warned that if further assaults or harassment against women occur and justice is not served, students will return to the streets to build a mass resistance movement.

"We hoped the post-election government would represent all citizens, not just a single party or group, and ensure equal rights and safety for everyone. However, since taking oath, the government has failed to guarantee the security of people's lives," He added.
