Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) distributed on Wednesday drinking water and juice in pet bottles and oral rehydration saline among general people in the capital in a bid to give them a relief from the searing heatwave sweeping across the country.
BNP leaders distributed the items among pedestrians, day labourers, rickshaw-pullers, bus drivers and helpers in Swadinata Chhatar, Kachukhet Bazar, Askona (Haji camp) and Uttara areas of the city.
Member of BNP's national executive committee Tabith Awal led the work for distribution of bottled water, juice and saline among ordinary people numbering 2,000.
Ward no 16 BNP leader Habibur Rahman Rabbi, Mohila Dal leader Jakia Sultana Panna and senior joint general secretary of Dhaka city west Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Manjurul Hasan Ifat were present, among others, at the distribution programne.
Apart from this, Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) will distribute bottled drinkable water and juice and saline to the working class people today (Thursday) amid the brutal hot weather.
BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas will distribute the items among rickshaw-pullers, auto-rickshaw drivers, bus drivers and helpers at around 4:00 pm in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office in the city.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other party leaders, including ZRF leaders, will be present, according to a handout signed by Dr Farhad Halim Donar, executive director of the foundation, issued on Wednesday.
