Jubo Dal activist killed in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Jan 9 (UNB): A Jubo Dal activist was hacked to death and his younger brother injured over an previous enmity in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat on Thursday night, police said.
The deceased is Yanul Hossain (31), son of Alam Hossain of Shalaipur village in Panchbibi.
He was an active member of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal. His younger brother, Abdul Momin (22), was also injured in the attack.
The incident took place around 11:00 pm at the Shalaipur Bazar-Dhakarpara road intersection.
According to locals, opponents attacked Yanul and Momin, leaving both of them injured. Yanul was taken to Mahipur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. Momin received primary treatment for his injuries.
Golam Rabbani Rabbi, former joint convener of district Jubo Dal, said there is currently no active Jubo Dal committee in Joypurhat, but Yanul had been a long-time active member of the organisation.
Hafiz Md. Raihan, officer-in-charge of Panchbibi Police Station, said police are investigating the motive behind the killing.
