Bangladesh are confirmed to finish at seventh place in the ICC World Test Championship, which is in its third cycle at this momentum, reports BSS.
In the first two cycles, Bangladesh languished at the bottom table.
The latest outcome was confirmed when the two-match Test series between Pakistan and West Indies ended in a draw with the Caribbean side winning the second and final Test by 120 runs.
Bangladesh won four matches, play 12 in this cycle. It's the highest number of victories they secured in Test Championship's history.
In the first cycle which ran from 2019-2021, they were win-less but won a game in the second cycle (2021-2023).
Pakistan and West Indies had fallen behind Bangladesh in terms of points percentage as neither team won the series.
In the Test Championship, the teams are ranked based on the percentage of points. The points earned by each team are divided by the total number of matches-- 12 points are allotted for each win while 6 points for a draw.
Bangladesh completed all the matches of their current Test Championship cycle with the series against the West Indies in December. Bangladesh's percentage of points in 12 matches is 31.25.
The top two teams in the points table will play in the final. This year, Australia (63.73 per cent) and South Africa (69.44 per cent) have made it to the final before completing all the matches.
