C&A Textiles tops list of shares by trade volume

The C&A Textiles Limited, a listed company, topped the list of traded shares by volume, as the company resumed its partial operations on a trial basis.

On the day, over 7.42 million shares of the company changed hands on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

According to media reports, the textiles company inaugurated its partial operations on a trial basis on Saturday.

In October 2021, the securities regulator has allowed Alif Group of Companies to acquire C&A Textiles, subject to the compliance with seven conditions, including resumption of productions of the ailing company.

The company, however, did not make any disclosure on the latest developments through the websites of the stock exchanges.

Contacted, an official of the Alif Group declined to make any comment.

On Sunday, the shares of C&A Textiles closed at Tk 10.90 each, up 4.81 per cent or Tk 0.5 from the previous session.

C&A Textiles, presently a 'Z'-category company, was listed on the stock exchanges in 2015.

The company's sponsor-directors hold 22.14 per cent shares, institutes 15.67 per cent, and general investors 62.19 per cent as on July 31, 2022, according to the DSE data.

On Sunday, Far Chemicals saw the second highest trade volume with over 6.85 million shares changing hands.
