Grasshopper opens new plant in Ctg

Grasshopper Building Materials Ltd. (GBML), a leading manufacturer of pavement tiles and environmentally friendly concrete blocks, has recently inaugurated its second manufacturing plant in Bhatiary, Chattogram.

The new facility marks a major milestone for GBML as it becomes Chattogram's largest pavement tile manufacturer, says a statement.

Equipped with modern machinery, the plant has a production capacity of 1,000 sq. ft. of premium-quality pavement tiles per hour and 16,000 solid blocks per day.

All GBML products are BUET-tested for strength and durability and are trusted by leading architects for their premium finish and aesthetic appeal.

Grasshopper Group Managing Director M Mahmudur Rashid, stated: "We have been receiving strong demand from Chattogram, but supplying from our Savar plant was costly and challenging. By investing in this new facility, we aim to serve the local market more efficiently and effectively."

Beyond ensuring supply, the Chattogram plant is transforming the local construction industry by setting new quality benchmarks. It is also generating significant local employment opportunities, including for women, and supporting regional vendors to grow their businesses.

Grasshopper Group Chairman Md. Tanjir Omor Faruq, emphasized the company's sustainability goals: "We are directly contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our mission is to replace traditional building materials with eco-friendly alternatives. Within our factories, we also focus on environmental responsibility through initiatives such as plantation programs, renewable energy adoption, and rainwater harvesting."
