The government has taken an initiative to review the minimum monthly wages for workers in the glass and silicate industry, in accordance with the Labour Act.
The last wage review for this sector was held in 2019. At that time, the minimum wage for workers in the sector was set at Tk 8,500, an increase from Tk 5,000 in 2011, officials said.
On March 16, the Labour Ministry issued a gazette notification announcing the appointment of representatives from both workers and employers to the wage board.
