Nagad making life easier ahead of Eid

Amid a growing rush for various shopping-related transactions and money transfers ahead of Eid, Nagad offers its customers convenience, speed and safety.

Be it offline or online shopping or exchanging money among friends and family members people heavily rely mainly on Nagad contributing to a significant rise in cashless transactions during Eid compared to other times of the year, according to the MFS company's transaction data.

Attractive cashback and gift offers also encourage a growing number of people to go for cashless transactions. Every year Nagad dangles a plethora of exciting gifts on the occasion of Eid. Last year Nagad's BMW mega campaign generated a significant buzz within the country. Customers also won sedan cars, motorcycles, and many other gifts through Nagad payments.

Like in previous years, Nagad has now launched the country's biggest campaign named "Nagad e Jomi", which will help take cashless transactions to a new high.

Besides, the country's popular MFS operator has dangled discounts and up to 100 per cent cashback on goods purchased from clothing brands, such as Top Ten, Sailor, Gentle Park, Infinity, Yellow, Richman, Lubnan, Easy Fashion and Artisan. The similar offer is available for different footwear brands, including Apex, Bata, Bay, Lotto and Vibrant. Nagad customers will also enjoy attractive discounts and 100 per cent cashbacks on payments made against products bought from plenty other electronics shops, restaurants, superstores, etc.

During this festival every year, Nagad experiences around 50 per cent surge in non-cash transactions compared with the figures in the rest of the year, said officials at Nagad.

Nagad app, rich with diversified people-friendly features, accounts for the majority of all such transactions as it allows users to enjoy the country's lowest charges alongside conveniences. Besides, a good number of transactions are performed through Nagad USSD *167#.

Talking to FE, Farzana Rashid, a housewife residing in Gulshan-1 adjacent to Hatirjheel Lake, who came to Jamuna Future Park with her husband, said, "We do not usually carry cash while going for Eid shopping, rather I prefer using Nagad for payments because it offers comfort, safety alongside cashbacks and different gifts."

Shawme Kabir, another housewife from the city's Banasree neighbourhood, said, "I regularly send money to my mother back home and I rely on Nagad for this as it costs the lowest."

"Besides, I use it [Nagad] for shopping and other purposes," she also said.

Rashedul Islam, a private sector employee from Bashundhara residential area, told FE, "I shop online and pay with Nagad as I do not want to go to shopping malls buzzing with so many crowds at this time. The interesting part is that I get cashbacks and gifts from Nagad too."

Muhammad Zahidul Islam, vice president and head of Media and Communications at Nagad Ltd., said, "Nagad always thinks of people's convenience, comfort, and affordability. We have designed our app in a such way that anyone can easily use it and enjoy its various products and services."

Prior to every festival, Nagad comes up with something unique and exceptional for its customers to make cashless transaction more rewarding, he also said, adding, "We have introduced the country's biggest campaign with Tk 20 crore (200 million) worth of mega gifts, including plots in Dhaka's Purbachal, this year."

In keeping with the government's goal to take 75 per cent of the country's total transactions to cashless methods by 2027, Nagad is now working on introducing more convenient and affordable products and services to encourage people to adopt more and more digital transactions, he noted.

The upcoming Nagad Digital Bank is going to be a big shot in the arm, Muhammad Zahidul Islam said.
